A shoe, given the right moment, could decide it no longer belongs on the ground. The Mary Jane was chosen not for nostalgia, but for its certainty: a shape so familiar it feels inevitable. By lifting it out of its role and placing it in the hand, its logic shifts. The strap becomes a closure, the sole becomes structure, the identity stays intact but the purpose slips. Somewhere between wearing and carrying, the object forgets what it was made for and becomes something else entirely.
